When laws like ‘Don’t Say Gay’ gained traction, Create Greater Than, Leo Burnett’s employee-led advocacy group, started thinking about the impact words have on the world and the workplace. So we launched Words Matter, a platform centered around the impact of what we say and don’t say along with suggestions for inclusive language.

Words Matter launched with a reflection film featuring quotes from an essay written by Noah Michelson, Editorial Director of Huffington Post Personal. The campaign also included suggestions for more inclusive language with a glossary (click through below) intended to educate advertising professionals of shifting languages and terminology.

Then, we sent out an agency-wide call to our fellow co-workers to be a part of the solution.
